The title says "Dive Sites of the Bahamas" and it delivers. Specific descriptions, exact locations, and details on the dive site (depth, currents, visibility, etc.)

My only wish would be for more. Essential for anyone planning a dive trip or cruise to the Bahamas.

This is a great book to pick up if you're even thinking of going to the Bahamas. Great pictures, comprehensive dive site reviews PLUS the book is loaded with lots of extras that make it one of the best dive books I've seen. Pages of fishID info with color photos, dive medicine, travel tips -- all in a very attractive package.

This series of guides has a well-established format - which, in this instance, has been used to very good effect by an Author who knows what he is doing.

Beginning with an explanation of how the book should be used, there are keys, legends and icons to be understood. These are placed next to each dive site throughout the book as an instant means of identifying the type and standard of diving involved. Not popular with everyone - but very useful for those who like them. Next is an introductory chapter which provides plenty of information vital to anyone contemplating a visit. This is followed by a large section on diving and snorkelling in general, before the book gets down to specifics. Altogether, this proved to be an excellent "lead-in."

Commencing with the USVI, this section kicks off with an introduction to the country and then goes on to cover 72 specific dive sites throughout St. Croix, St. Thomas and St. John. This is followed by similar information on the BVI before tackling 60 dive sites found throughout Tortola, Virgin Gorda and Anegada. The book then concludes with chapters on the marine environment, photography, health & safety and a bibliography.

Lawson Wood is an immensely capable and experienced underwater photographer and author. I found the overall standard of photography to be well above that which is noramally encountered in such guides and it says much for Mr Wood's skills that I was unable to find a single poor photograph within the book.

In Summary; an excellent and well-presented book produced by a talented writer and photographer - and one that will not disappoint anyone contemplating a visit to the Virgin Islands.

I have owned the book "Dodger Dogs to Fenway Franks" virtually since its publication in 1989. As a baseball fan for many years, I had always myself fantasized of taking the trip Mr Wood did to every baseball stadium in America. Bob Wood's book is quite simply, one of the best books I have ever read in my life. It is a combination of baseball, travel, thrill seeking, and a trip of pleasure that every baseball fan can dream of. While reading the book, I could feel what it would have been like to sit with Mr Wood in his car on that trip. Despite weather, a robbery of his possessions in Northern California, a tight budget, and incredibly long drive, and an impending baseball strike that threatened to wipe out his dream of getting to every stadium, Bob Wood perservered and finished his journey. He achieved his goal through it all, and provided an exciting book that any baseball fan who has ever dreamed of taking the trip should be proud to read. I salute Mr Wood and his accomplishment. While is is now 18 years after his trip, it remains my favorite book of all time, fiction or non fiction. Bravo, Bob, you have created a masterpiece. A book that baseball fans and any readers should be proud of and salute you for.

This enchanted ride through one summer of baseball and hot dogs is not to be missed. It feels as if you are actually riding shotgun with Mr. Wood. This book is often humorous, sometimes sad, and always entertaining. One of the best.

I just finished "A Door In The Woods" and I have to say this author is going places. It was very original and entertaining. I would recommend it to anyone who has children with a sense of adventure. It's a real page turner and kept me hooked until the very end. Great job Mr. Dashner. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.

I read The Jimmy Fincher Saga with my two boys, and we finished it in three nights. It was both funny and exciting. The kids have already started to play "Jimmy Fincher." Although this book is geared for 12-15 year olds and was told through the eyes of a fourteen-year-old boy, I would recommend it to everyone! We look forward to book 2.

Anyone not familiar with Lewis Grizzard ought to be in for a treat reading these books. I grew up reading Grizzard in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and I remember laughing out loud at the breakfast table so, so many times. Grizzard was a terrifically funny man, southern to the core and wrote basically about what he knew best- life in the south. Grizzard was more than just a funny guy, however, he was a real writer, a true talent. This collection makes me realize how much I miss him. You don't have to be southern to appreciate Grizzard, however, no more than you'd have to be from the Midwest to like Garrison Keillor. This is Grizzard at his best.

Lewis Grizzard is to southern humor what Elvis is to rock n roll, a legend that will live in our hearts forever. "Down Home Grizzard" is an excellent read as well as a beautiful memory to the late king of southern humor. The man is just plain funny.

I am a Jewish believer in Messiah from Long Island NY. I have been priviledged to witness the tremendous success that comes from the faithful following of the principles of Jim and Susan Wood's book. I have seen this, up to now, unbelivable success at the ranch in Tennessee as well as with my own children ages twenty-one and six at home in New York. Every Child Deserves Straight A's deserves an A plus itself for sharing with it's readers the basic keys to a child's education in easy to understand, clear and loving language (and please note that according to the Wood's, education takes place all day and every day). This book brings to life the all important point that in order to be good parents and role models to our children, we as parents must first submit our will to God and follow biblical principles ourselves. It is the total dedication by Jim and Susan Wood to these biblical principles and to serving God by investing their lives in the lives of children, that I am privileged to witness through their writing and when visiting Wears Valley Ranch in Tennessee.

I know Jim and Susan Wood personally and have seen the effects of the principles described in this book on the lives of the children they work with. The stories are true and it has affected my life profoundly to see how God's love can change a person's life so dramatically. This book can change the lives of the children in your life too.

My husband carves and he seemed to like the step-by-step instructions, however, this book shows tropical fish only.

This book is the ticket if you have an iterest in carving, and would like to begin carving. The photos are excellent and detailed, and the text informative and simple to follow. watch the fish be carved from the block of wood to the finished product. And at only around 13 dollars, how can you go wrong?

Every so often there is a book that is worth reading simply for the pleasure of the words in it, separate from whatever the author is trying to say or tell the reader. This is such a book. The effect is akin to being immersed in the depths of a symphony of words. Otherwise Peattie does an excellent job of explaining the evolution and development of the earths flowering plants. His writing is easily understood and opens botany to the more or less uninformed reader. Read this book for pleasure or for information. You will be pleased you sampled it. This is my second copy. I lent the first out and lost a friend to the book

Wow. Charles Osgood you, my friend, have done it again. This book is absolute dynamite, KA-POW! I am twenty two years old and many of my friends don't consider "Ozzie" to be "cool" or "hip". Well this book is physical evidence of the overwhelming sweetness that is "The Oz". The following is a quote from a letter written by Abe Lincoln (Yes, the President!) to his wife Mary Todd:
"Mary, I have recieved word that you have made a cuckold of me with the young man who trims our hedges. I am dismayed. This book covers a variety of projects and although some may not be exactly what you are looking for they provide a great starting point for customization. Each plan includes a schematic that shows all parts in relation to one another as well as scaled layouts for hard to layout parts. The instructions are well organized and detail helpful hints for each poject. Moderate knowledge of woodworking terms (i.e. dado, rabbit, etc...) will be helpful in uderstanding the instructions, which are very straight forward. I have purchased several project plans from wood working supply houses (which individually sell for more than the price of this book) and they can't compare to the clarity of instruction provided in this book.
